Definition of "research": 1. Diligent, proactive investigation and studious inquiry. 2. A systematic undertaking through thorough investigation of information. 3. An endeavor requiring searching beyond what is readily known.
Parents... Please assist your young person in understanding that good research does require time searching sources, true grit in digging deeper, accurate analyzing, and logical compilation of what they learned. As we continue into the 21st Century, it becomes increasingly impossible to retain all we know. Therefore, researching skills are becoming more and more important to be able to retrieve what we need to know at any given time.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
* Projects are not an option; they are required to meet learning expectations. As such, students are expected to work in a timely manner before the due date to complete projects.
*Waiting until the last minute does not allow students to ask questions, edit, or troubleshoot a large number of problems that could arise. Specifically, if there is a technical problem, it does not allow time to fix it. Students should save their projects in more than one way to avoid issues. Students should also be aware of compatibility of computer programs; at times the programs at home do not work with the versions at school.
* Projects (as well as all assignments where typing is required) need to be printed out before the class period in which it is due. Teachers do not have printers in their classrooms. Once students are in class, they will not be allowed to pull up their work and print as the computer labs are not always available for this purpose and sending one student at a time to print is disruptive of the class.
* Project due dates will not be extended. Please be responsible!
